EU Recipe

In May 2014, a Consortium consisting of partners from the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Sweden participated in an European Commission tender for the prevention and preparedness projects in the field of civil protection and sudden marine pollution, with a proposal for a critical infrastructure protection project titled „Resilience of Critical Infrastructure Protection in Europe“ (RECIPE).


EU-CIRCLE is a research project funded by the Horizon 2020, the new European Union research and innovation programme, aimed at assessing the resilience of interconnected and interdependent critical infrastructures to climate change. The project, lasting 36 months (from 1 June 2015 to 1 June 2018) and with the total budget of 7.3 million euros, brings together leading European research and academic institutions, governmental organisations, meteorological services, industrial entities, small and medium-sized enterprises from the fields of climatology and critical infrastructure protection.

Specialist graduate professional study in Optometry

The University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica as the project holder and the Ambitio College as a partner will develop a new English language Specialist Graduate Study Programme in Optometry. By developing the curriculum of the new study programme, completely performed in English, the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica will contribute to the internationalization of Croatian higher education and stimulate the growth of the incoming student mobility rate.

KOZMOK – Crisis Management, Optometry, Aircraft Maintenance, Motor Vehicle Maintenance – qualifications framework

The project is being implemented by the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica in partnership with the Croatian Firefighting Association and the Croatian Association of Opticians and Optometrists. The project implementation period lasts for two years, from 22 March 2019 to 22 March 2021. The total value of the project amounts to 3.981.904,36 kunas and the project is completely funded by the European Social Fund. The aim of the project is to improve the University’s study programmes, based on the occupational standards and qualifications through the application of the Croatian Qualifications Framework. The project will likewise enhance the quality and the teaching activities of the University, as well as boosting the optometric laboratory through the acquisition of lab equipment worth 440.000 kunas.
