Course objective:

Acquisition of the concept of procurement and supply, as well as basic assumptions necessary for successful management of procurement and supply. Introduction to the management and procurement models, as well as the methods for controlling costs of procurement and supply, and benchmarking and controlling of procurement.

Course contents:

Concept, goals, significcance and development of procurement: Managing business processes, Concept, goals, importance and development of procurement; concepts of procurement, supply, material management, logistics. Procurement policy and strategy: basic supply policies and the rate of consumption, policy of quantity and quality, policy of procurement prices, policy of procurement sources, procurement controlling, policy of relations with suppliers, policy of procurement contracts, procurement strategy: procurement in local and global market, procurement of objects, Single Sourcing and Multiple Sourcing; Outsourcing and Insourcing, strategy of relations with suppliers. Operative planning of procurement, planning of needs and supplies, procurement models, planning procurement methods, procurement systems. Organization of procurement and its function, formation of procurement structure and supply process, centralization and decentralization of procurement, the place of procurement within the organizational structure of the company, centralized and decentralized procurement and supply, internal organization of procurement. Procurement operations: elements of the procurement process, choice of suppliers, conclusion and types of procurement contracts, deadline control and payments. Electronic procurement, ethics, securing and protection of data in the process of procurement and control of operations. Strategic management of procurement: market research, research and planning of needs, ABC and XYZ analysis in procurement, ABC analysis in procurement (Management by Exception), Encryption and classification systems in procurement, RFID technology, Value analysis, costs of procurement and supply, calculation of purchase prices.


General: understanding of procurement principles, knowledge of legal and other regulations relating to procurement, and acquisition of skills for leading and managing procurement and supply in contemporary market conditions. Specific: special emphasis on topical trends of using contemporary information technology.

Learning outcomes:

Having passed the exam, the student will be able to: 1. define basic concepts related to procurement and supply 2. set up independently the policy and strategy and goals of company procurement and implementation of strategy to realize the set goals; 3. master the processes of planning, operational planning and procurement system 4. set benchmarks for monitoring the performance of implementing procurement policy and plan, as well as item inventory 5. determine the place of procurement in the business system and define the organization of the procurement process 6. organize the entire procurement process 7. manage the project of public procurement in the role of public contractor 8. organize the research of the market of procurement and supply 9. create ABC, XYZ and value analysis of procurement The aforementioned learning outcomes contribute to the learning outcomes of the study programme: - Apply teamwork skills in the development of logistics projects - Describe the organization of a logistics procurement and supply system. - Plan management in the process of logistics activities.
