Course objective:

Ackquiring knowledge in the area of leading, managing, organizing and coordinating processes in the area of military logistics.

Course contents:

Elementary concepts, role and purpose of military logistics, specific characteristics of branch logistics. History of military logistics: review of key events in military and war history, contemporary trends. Types of military logistics; armament and military equipping processes, technical supplies and maintenance, supply, health, veterinarian, traffic, construction, financial and fire-fighting protection; operational and coordination functions. Staff work in a military organization, logistic department and the functions of leadership and management of logistics. Elementary principles of military logistics; System of planning, programming and budget and implementation of the budget, role and significance of logistics. Logistics in military operations, logistic management in crisis conditions, decision-making and monitoring. Management of operational logistics: deployment of forces, symbols, working logistics map, examples. Logistics in NATO: NATO logistics principles and policies: Planning joint and special military logistics strategies, Planning military equipment and armament, Standards and standard operative procedures in multinational operations. Planning logistics in military and peace operations. Characteristics of logistic system on sample countries and involvement in NATO logistics systems, Logistics reports: personnel planning for military logistics.

Competences:

General: proficient knowledge on military logistics, methods for applying logistics principles in military actions (national and international). Specific: activity and organization planning, coordination and management of military logistics.

Learning outcomes:

Having passed the exam, the student will be able to: 1. Participate in teamwork of the logistical part of military headquarters and contribute through their competences to the presentation of their ideas, communicating, respecting other attitudes and coordination of logistics activities in the planning and implementation of military operations. 2. Distinguish functional areas of military logistics and assess the importance of coordination and operative logistics for military operations 3. Identify the scope of each task of the logistic headquarters and comment on their trends and their influence on the military logistics in the future; 4. Connect and estimate interdependence and mutual influence of military plans, programs and budgets. 5. Identify problems in managing operational logistics, assess the logistic requirements in military operations and propose schemes for effective and economical solutions 6. Connect logistics components in a multinational military operation. 7. Discuss the process of logistics planning in a multinational military operation. 8. Analyze current challenges of multinational military operations from the aspect of logistics. The aforementioned learning outcomes contribute to the learning outcomes of the study programme: - Explain the properties and functions of a logistics system. - Apply teamwork skills in the development of logistics projects. - Recognize the need for lifelong learning in the development of logistics.
