Course objective:

Acquisition of knowledge and skills for managing logistics systems and processes.

Course contents:

Theoretical basis about management - cybernetics. Structure and principles of functioning of a logistic system. Elements of the supply chain system. Basic management functions (planning, organization, coordination, monitoring). Managing the development of logistic activities. Application of science about management of development tasks. Basic characteristics of methodsfor planning of logistic processes. Forecasting methods and models. Information and communication systems in logistics industry. Risk management in the supply chain. Subsystems.


General: understand the functioning of the logistics industry and have knowledge and skills of managing logistic systems and processes. Specific: independently plan resources and activities of logistics processes; and manage the improvement and development of a logistics system.

Learning outcomes:

Having passed the exam, the student will be able to: 1. Analyze the organizational scheme of a logistics company and formulate improvement proposals. 2. Select a management model for logistics processes. 3. Plan resources and activities of logistics processes. 4. Identify the indicators for the optimization of logistics processes. 5. Analyze and critically evaluate advantages and disadvantages of practical examples of logistics systems. 6. Connect the knowledge of logistics systems management with other knowledge from the field of interdisciplinary technical sciences. 7. Apply technical knowledge and skills to resolve practical issues of logistics systems management. 8. Plan a project, taking into consideration available resources and time limits. The aforementioned learning outcomes contribute to the learning outcomes of the study programme: - Present the analysis results and proposals for resolving logistics issues. - Analyse relevant management indicators in the logistics system. - Assess the security of a logistics system.
