Course objective:

Acquisition of knowledge and skills of research methodology for individual or team research work. To train students to define and prepare a final thesis.

Course contents:

Concept, aim and types of research. Fundamental, applied and developmental. Systematic approach to research. Research problem. Research planning. Research process. Teamwork, individual work and mentorship. Research organization. Identification of existing conditions, data collection, processing and analysis, synthesis, verification of hypotheses and projecting solutions. Presentation of research results. Structure, writing, technical processing: preparation of test reports, professional papers, studies, articles and posters. Assessment of a professional and scientific paper. Types and categories of papers. Original scientific paper. Preliminary notes. Review article. Project (study). Professional paper. Presentation. Study. Expertise. Review. Research organization and planning. Institutes and other research facilities. Preparation of research and development documents: tactical study (TS), feasibility study (FS) and implementation programme (IP). Seminar paper (individually or as a team).

Ability to conduct research independently, reach conclusions and write professional papers.

Learning outcomes:
