Course objective:

Familiarisation with basic concepts and advanced technologies of vehicle maintenance, with a special focus on diagnostics and usage of electronic testing devices, and procedures of maintaining engine components and devices.

Course contents:

Theoretical basis of maintenance. Procedures for maintaining engine major parts and devices: checks and technical diagnostics, assembling and disassembling, detecting component faults, replacement of assemblies and parts, adjustment of movable and immovable engine parts, fuel and air intake devices, cooling devices, lubrication devices, ignition devices, electronic and electric devices and engine fittings. Measures of technical protection.

Competences:

Theoretical and practical knowledge of technological processes of maintaining engine assemblies and devices. Competence for designing and managing the process of vehicle engine maintenance.

Learning outcomes:

Having passed the exam, the student will be able to: 1. Identify the features and impact of exploitation conditions on motor vehicles. 2. Identify working processes of complex systems in motor vehicles. 3. Assess maintenance processes and choose optimal maintenance procedures. 4. Use modern methods and equipment to determine the vehicle technical condition. 5. Implement appropriate organisational and technological procedures of vehicle maintenance. 6. Standardise technological maintenance procedures. These learning outcomes contribute to the following outcomes of the study programme of motor vehicle maintenance: - Describe the features and function of motor vehicle maintenance. - Apply the technological processes of motor vehicle maintenance. - Use computer technology in the resolution of motor vehicle issues. - Present a motor vehicle status analysis.
