Course Objective: Familiarisation with basic hydraulic components aimed at better understanding of hydraulic systems applied in mobile technical systems.

Course Contents: Hydraulic and pneumatic systems on aircraft, driving, braking, suspension and other supporting systems. Hydraulic pumps, models and classification, pump regulation, driving parameters, engines, hydraulic cylinders. Driving mechanisms, damping elements, hydraulic distributors, pressure and flow control valves, proportional valves and distributors. Hydraulic drives with open and closed recirculation, and their control. Calculation of mobile hydraulics. Servo systems. Oil physical and chemical properties, purity. Sealing of movable and fixed elements. Hydraulic storage batteries. Hydraulic pipes, elements of a hydraulic installation. Pneumatic braking and supporting devices. Energy control devices, distributors, pressure valves, circulating valves. Pneumatic control, characteristics and modes. Maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems on vehicles, basic risk and failure factors, basic principles of fault finding and repair.

General and Specific competencies (Knowledge and Skills): Basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics. Capability to learn and understand hydraulic schemes. Ability to define components of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Capability to state deficiencies and eliminate them accordingly on hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Organisation of maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems on vehicles.
