Revision of basic knowledge of the English language and its usage in spoken and written communication.
Introduction into the field of crisis management and basic professional terminology (introduction to crisis management, managing a crisis, global warming, environmental protection, epidemics and pandemics). Basic verb tenses and forms, articles, plural of nouns, word formation, adjectives and comparison of adjectives.
Knowledge of basic technical terminology and its use in written and spoken language. Reading comprehension and communication skills in English.
After passing the exam, the student will be able to: 1. Properly use grammatical structures: present and past tenses, comparison of adjectives and definite and indefinite article. 2. Properly form new words using prefixes and suffixes, as well as the plural of nouns. 3. Use technical terminology from the profession, with an emphasis on the fundamentals of crisis management, climate change and epidemics. 4. Explain basic professional concepts using English for Specific Purposes. 5. Express their own attitudes on individual topics from the field of crisis management. The aforementioned learning outcomes contribute to the learning outcomes of the study programme: - Manage activities of a multidisciplinary team in crises using acquired communication skills - Present their own attitudes, solutions, projects and ideas on crisis management issues - Use information systems and technology for planning, monitoring and communication in resolving crisis situations
