Today’s fast development of technologies used in the fields of engineering professions can no longer be met by an inert educational system but rather by a flexible system that is adaptable to the needs and demands on the market. In order to provide precisely such an educational system the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica has introduced the enrolment quotas with a maximum number of 30 students per group which is in compliance with the Bologna process and allows students to establish interaction with the lecturers i.e. gives guarantee of high-quality teaching and places the students in the centre of the educational process.
As a higher education institution the University of Applied Sciences provides professional study programmes and adapts to the needs of today’s market, insuring that the students are provided the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge that will help them secure easier employment on the labour market. The aim is to provide knowledge that is appropriate to the latest knowledge and technologies of today’s world of science and profession.
By reducing the large number of students per individual study programmes and by placing the students into the centre of the educational system, by introducing flexible study programmes and their adaptation to the actual needs in the economy, as well as numerous other novelties have represented the main idea and the guideline underlying the development of the educational system at the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica.
The vision of the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica is to be a distinguished and technologically modern educational institution with unique curricula in the region of south-eastern Europe; to develop their own teaching staff who will provide students with highly professional education and life-long improvement; to integrate with the economy as an element of education and to be a flexible educational institution ready for constant adaptation to the needs of the economy and helping in its development.
In its three years of existence the University of Applied Sciences has set the basic preconditions for its work and has oriented itself to constant improvement of the educational process at all levels and the establishment of new educational programmes. As a young institution, the University of Applied Sciences is facing an entire range of necessary activities and internal continuous improvements to realize the desired level of development, which determines also its development strategy. The development of the existing programmes and the creation of new ones with the aim of entering new markets indicate the expansion as one option of the development strategy.
Aware of certain demands on the market, the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica will also establish the specialist study programmes in the most attractive professions of the organized study programmes, thus enabling current students to continue their education at these two-year specialist programmes. Apart from the students from the University of Applied Sciences, the students from other higher education institutions showing interest for these studies will have the opportunity to enrol at these specialist study programmes. This will additionally increase the possibility of expanding on the market towards the students who had previously attended some other higher education institution.
