Objective of course of lectures Students will learn about the main subject matter of research and the methodological approaches of ecology as a science. |

Content of course of lectures: Definitions, limits and division of ecology; levels of bioecological details and integration; individual ecology; population and its parametres; population growth; populations in interaction; limitation and regulation of populations; geographical and ecological space; ecological niche and ecological valency; ecological variables and population responses; ecological gradients and continuum/discontinuum of controversies; habitat, biological community and ecosystem; origin, structure, exchange and stability of biological communities; biodiversity; primary and secondary production; cycles and circulation of matter in ecosystem; ecological division of space; vegetation; cenological and physiognomy approach; habitat typology; succession; evolution ecology and biogeography; global ecological changes.

General and specific competences (knowledge and skills): After the course of lectures attended and the exam passed, students will be able to independently recognise the main components of ecological problems; they will also gain the knowledge necessary for the understanding of a number of courses of lectures in further semesters. |
